We won.
That feeling of anxiety that coursed through many people the day of, and days after, the election was really just unmet expectations. And, to be blunt, a fear that this election would be stolen by some crazy shenanigans.
But let’s be honest with ourselves, many of us hoped for a blue wave a la 2018 that would flip the country decidedly away from Trump. When that didn’t happen. When we saw how many people still voted for Trump, it hurt. We didn’t get that wave. At least, not in an electoral college sense.
Still. We won. Decidedly.
And we collectively learned a few more things that are fascinating for the future.
And still have the Georgia Senate race. More on that below.
And in the coming weeks, I will be sharing more about my next steps.
But this week take a moment. Hug those you’re close to. And enjoy it.
Forward Together.
With love and optimism.

1/ Three lessons
Thank you Stacey Abrams. America needs new leaders. Too many moderates and progressives are fighting over the narrative scraps of this election on social media. But for those of us looking to the future, the truth is clear: It’s time for new leadership across the board. If you’re too busy fighting over whether moderates or progressives won this race, you’re already behind.
Trump was rejected. The country rejected Trumpism. Republicans did well down ballot, i.e. Republicans declined to support Trump but still voted for their local Republicans. But the silver lining is that many didn’t approve of Trump and made it known.
Youth Vote is the future. The kids are all right. Population shifts alone can often change history. Traditionally the youth don’t vote, but the activation and impact of 2020, if cultivated well, should have long-term consequences for changing the course of the country to continue our country’s belief in, and work toward, a better future.
2/ Georgia on the mind
There are two Senate seats up in play for Georgia, with control of the Senate at stake. If Democrats take both seats, they also have the tie-breaker with Vice President Kamala Harris. Here’s a breakdown by Vox if you want to learn more.
But it’s not that complicated: Biden-Harris was step one. Now we’re on to step two. And each step is increasingly more difficult. Flipping not one, but two seats in Georgia is a a huge task. But winning even just one, would be massive.
If you think Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham are a problem. This is how you fight back.
