Message from Charles
Did you know that Trump received 8 grams of REGN-COV2? This is the experimental drug that only 275 people have gone through testing so far.
8 grams is the maximum dosage allowed. And Trump had to apply for a compassionate care exemption. It’s still that early in the testing phase.
I don’t know what this means for Trump’s health. But I do know the national scene will continue to be a mess for the foreseeable future. So let’s take a moment and look local.
One challenge about local races is that it’s…well, local. So I spend a lot of time to understand the local nuances.
It’s a great reminder of how much local politics shapes our lives. But we often don’t know what’s going on nearby, let alone hundreds of miles away.
So this week, I’m focusing on organizations that channel resources (funding and volunteers) to local communities and candidates.
Forward together.

1/ Organization of the Week
Each week I pick an organization for readers to support for just $25.00. This way you know you’re part of a movement and that your donation has a real impact.
Vote Mama
Mika is a member. So that should be enough.
Vote Mama was founded by a woman that petitioned the “Federal Election Commission and became the first woman in history to receive federal approval to spend campaign funds on childcare.” Now Moms and Dads are applying for approval and receiving approval to spend campaign funds on childcare.
Vote Mama is supporting a wide range of Moms from around the country. It’s a great organization. It’s not Mother’s Day, but consider it a step in that direction.
Please consider donating as part of your $25.00 weekly donation.
Vote for Families. Donate here.
2/ This Week’s Campaign
Each week I provide one campaign or PAC for subscribers to donate at least $25.00.
New Deal
This group is more economic focused than social justice.
“NewDEAL is a national network of rising state and local elected leaders who are pro-growth progressives.”
But I know the leadership. They are a national organization. They are well run. And they support a range of diverse candidates around the country at the State and local level.
Boom. Done. Donate here.
3/ Volunteer Opportunities
Campaigns and organizations need your help. It might be phone/text banking or volunteering your special skills.

School Board? Yup, San Francisco school board. Doesn’t get much more local than that. Parents with children in public school are paying $2,000.00 per child every month to have daytime school pods. That’s not sustainable.
This whole Schools Out For (protocol) Ever is one big train wreck: Schools, school funding, equity, and the relationship to the economy will drive a huge amount of the political conversation for the next 10 years.
Get to know a local leader that’s been there and done that. Volunteer some time.
4/ Commit 10 seconds this week
Don’t count on Facebook to save democracy.
Leadership Matters
I decided to mix things up a bit. Instead of sharing information with the world. This is a “The More You Know,” message. Because it’s a good reminder of the impact of elected leaders on issues many people don’t think about. I thought this was especially poignant given the recent passing of RBG.
